University of Alabama students may borrow books for free from several college and university libraries in Alabama. This may be of particular interest to distance students living far from Tuscaloosa but closer to one of these "reciprocal borrowing" institutions.

Partner libraries include:

  • Alabama A & M University
  • Auburn University Library
  • Auburn University Montgomery Library
  • Bevill State Junior College Library
  • Huntingdon College Library
  • Jacksonville State University Library
  • Judson College Library
  • Miles College Library
  • Mississippi State University Starkville
  • Selma University Library
  • Shelton State College Library
  • Stillman College Library
  • University of Alabama at Birmingham Library
  • University of Alabama at Huntsville Library
  • University of Montevallo Library
  • University of West Alabama Library

You'll need to present your ACT Card and a valid driver's license to borrow items. You are required to follow the rules and regulations of the lending institution.

Other libraries with which the University does not have a reciprocal borrowing agreement will allow you to use their resources in the library building. Many libraries also offer a 'community user card' (or similar) for a fee; we recommend contacting the institution for details.
