You can put a book on hold using our Document Delivery service--just request the item you need and pick it up at the library of your choice. This service is available for books and audiovisual materials. We can also provide scans from print and microforms.

If you found the item in Scout, simply click the "Request Item" button found in the left-hand column.

In the Libraries Catalog, the "Request Item" button is in the menu on the right.

Then:
  • Log into ILLiad using your myBama username and password.
  • Next select the document type:
    • Choose "Doc Delivery - Copy" to request a scanned copy of a microform or an article that we have in print;
    • Choose "Doc Delivery - Loan" to request delivery of the item itself (eg. book, DVD, LP etc).
  • Verify that all required fields are filled out and click "Submit Request."
  • You should then see a Request Received confirmation at the top of the screen.

Requests are typically filled within 24-48 hours. You'll receive an email when you item is ready.

Need assistance placing a request? Just ask! Staff at any Circulation Desk will be able to help you.

Please note that Document Delivery does not include items located at the Bounds Law Library and the Health Sciences Library. For materials located in these libraries, please contact the respective library for assistance.
