What is HathiTrust?
HathiTrust is a partnership between several research libraries, allowing the members to share digitized copies of out-of-copyright books. Unlike Google Books, HathiTrust allows its users to download chapters and books. It also provides other benefits to users who are print impaired. HathiTrust is highly interdisciplinary, covering topics from the humanities to mathematics and the hard sciences. It currently has more than 10 million volumes and continues to grow.
Current faculty, staff and students of the University can access HathiTrust here. Be sure to log in as a UA user, using your myBama credentials, to enjoy the full benefits of the site.
HathiTrust includes many in-copyright books from other libraries; we have only a limited snippet view of these materials, as HathiTrust is very careful to honor copyright. When using HathiTrust, pay attention to the two tabs: "All Items" (includes snippet views) and "Full View" (only out-of-copyright materials).
The University of Alabama Libraries became members of HathiTrust in the summer of 2013.
