Answer

For finding an academic article, start with Scout.  Scout is a general, one-stop database that covers several subject areas.  You can start with a basic search for whatever topic you're examining.  After you get your search results, you'll see a box along the left labeled Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals, which is how you will limit your results to academic content.

There is no great trick for finding argumentative articles in particular.  All scholarly articles are trying to make some point: sometimes it's about the author's research, sometimes it's about important societal issues, sometimes it's something else.  As long as you are researching some kind of hot-topic issue, that has a lot of debate surrounding it, you should be able to find a scholarly article that takes a side.
